Vastu Shastra and Feng Shui – Here’s the Difference!
For those who do not possess acute knowledge of Vastu Shastra and feng shui, they may consider it to be one and the same. Indeed, their guidance relates to the architectural positioning of elements that each study has in common with one another.
However, there are still limitations to their comparisons. In truth, Vastu Shastra and Feng shui both use their education to create a compatible surrounding to enhance their aura. But they use different elements and principles to do so.
Here, we reflect on those principles and difference in elements.
More about Vastu Shastra
The term Vastu Shastra, sometimes known as Vastu Vidya, refers to the science of Vedic texts.
Believed to be more than three thousand years old, the study of Vastu Shastra connects mathematical formulas to the sacred knowledge of spirituality, astrology, nutrition and yoga. Vastu uses this connection to create an atmosphere where the user shows their deep reverence with Hindu deities.
Vastu uses five elements as well, utilizing their harmony with one another to create a balanced atmosphere. However, these elements differ when compared to feng shui.
These elements are:
Earth
Water
Fire
Air
Space
More about Feng Shui
Feng means air and shui means water, each of which holds great importance in Chinese culture. Feng Shui or wind and water associate good health with wealth and thus are used to present a path of energy that brings positivity to our surroundings.
Typically, feng shui was intended for the ideal placement of gravesites. However, since many people saw its benefits for other parts of their home, they began utilizing its properties to appropriate energy into their homes. Traditional Feng Shui gives equal importance to time, space and action. By using the right elements in connection, Feng Shui harmonizes each aspect to bring a sense of balance to the environment.
And like Vastu Shastra, Feng Shui uses five elements to represent the world and its components. However, these elements replace space and earth with wood and metal.
The Difference
As seen from the above information, Vastu Shastra and Feng Shui—while both use various elements to create balance—do differ in their system. Vastu Shastra adheres to its principles regardless of the person who uses it. Feng Shui takes account of the person’s spiritual analysis and presents a solution thusly.
